The Aston Martin V8 sounds like a big-block Mustang that went to Oxford for a few years

And I absolutely love it. I’ve kinda been on a roll with these 70's GT cars. First, I covered a Citroen SM, and now this 1974 Aston Martin V8. Maybe I need to shoot a Maserati Ghibli to round out the trifecta? But in making this video I learned a lot about Aston Martins and their owners.

Tracking down classic cars to shoot is how I spend my time at work when I’m not browsing oppo or flinging pencils into the ceiling. Usually it involves sending a note to the head of the Ontario Classic _____ Club and usually it involves me never getting a reply. Looking at you specifically, Ferrari and BMW owners clubs of Ontario. But when I sent a note to the local Aston club, it went completely the other way on me.

My inbox was flooded with owners eager to feature their cars and happy to help me find even more owners. One even offered up his BMW M1 race car for a shoot but we’ll get to that in the spring. I eventually met Peter Schurmann who offered to take his ‘74 Aston out of winter storage for the day just so we could drive it around on salt crusted roads for a shoot. He bought the car 34 years ago as a ‘fallback’ when he couldn’t afford to buy a Maserati Ghibli convertible.

It was a ton of fun on this piece and its inspired me to do whatever I can to afford one of these awesome cars. If you want to read more about the car and the owner’s 34 year history with it, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

My favorite part - “salt corrosion.”

It happens in New England all the time.
